The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Venomania Finished! + General Update

It's been ages since I posted a journal entry here *3* I've almost finished (edit 8 Feb: I just finished!) sewing my dress for Venomania, here are all the progress pics:

Don't worry, I know to iron the dress before I wear it, I know it looks like a crumpled mess in the WIP pics. XD We have such a sexy Venomania team - our Luka/Gumi/Miku are all beautiful and our Gakupo/Kaito are both HAWT so I'm very much looking forward to doing this cosplay with them <3

Meiko-nee strikes again

I'm now up to 11 Meiko cosplays (technically 12 but I don't count the random schoolgirl cosplay that I did with *SweetSkitty since that was majorly ghetto & closet xD) with the Palette PV taking up my 10th & 11th Meiko cosplays:

2010 Cosplay In Review

I don't want to copypasta, so here's a link to my 2010 Cosplay In Review entry over at me & Silver's LJ. I remember thinking that people who did more than 10 cosplays a year were insane, and now I've done 16 already this year with two more costumes to be shot before the year ends *__*

To be fair though, some of them were proper photoshoots done of con costumes I already made but had no photos of (like Ishizu, Neliel etc), and some of them were easy sewing alterations of regular clothes I already had in my wardrobe (like Spice, Magnet etc). So it's not like I managed to learn to sew any faster, I'm still slow XD I'm a tiny bit faster than I was before, but still a LOT slower than everyone else haha.

But as I wrote in the LJ entry, the two Palette outfits are my last girl cosplays and last Meiko cosplays for 2010 - I'll have a shoot next week as a pretty-boy and a manly man, so you'll see the uploads soon! XD

Hm, I prob make skirts in 5 days so long as they don't have pleats, but pants take me *forever*. I am super slow lol, it drives Shona crazy *fail* XD

I've been cosplaying for 5 years now! The first two years I was a complete n00b so I only did one costume per year. Then the third year was three costumes. The fourth year was like ten ... and now sixteen OTL one day I'll die from oversewing :'D
