Tomie cosplay (富江).

Harmony/myself as Tomie

Thank you #strawtography for the beautiful photography.


I love Junji Ito so much, not even kidding - he's my absolute favorite horror manga author/artist of all time. And I have a love/hate relationship with Tomie, arguably one of his most famous characters ... on the one hand she's a massive bitch and I hate her, and on the other hand she's this amazingly creepy otherworldly entity and I can't get enough of her stories!

I decided to go with an "in-between" version of the school uniform - so this outfit takes elements from both the manga and the live-action movie versions of Tomie. Again, it's an outfit I altered, as I managed to find a vintage-style ensemble for cheap online and just modified it. (Added note: please be aware that the beauty spot is on the CORRECT side. The earliest Tomie translations flipped the manga to accommodate English readers for left-to-right reading so it's on the wrong side in those scans XD)

This photo is probably the most tame Tomie photo I'll post up, to represent her pretentious "dainty flower" side xD the real horror shots will be coming soon, just as a warning. An extra thank you to ~ZuZuMoo for being such a dedicated helper at the shoot! <3

Thanks! All of the info is in the deviation description lol ^^; I do normally make my own outfits from scratch but this one is an outfit that I altered since I found a base for cheap (so all I had to do was to change and add a few things here and there). Nice and easy.

Never thought I'd EVER see a Junji Ito Cosplay! I'm a HUGE fan of his (read everything I can get my hands on so far except his rendition of Frankenstein. ) Tomie is definitiely one of my favorites. I was considering cosplaying Kirie from the medusa chapter of Uzumaki or one of the characters from black paradox but I was thinking it was too obscure. Tangent aside, this is fucking awesome :)

You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear such enthusiasm from a fellow Ito (and Tomie) fan! So happy you enjoyed the cosplay!

Yeah, unfortunately Ito is a bit obscure (I did notice I don't get as many favs and such on my Tomie stuff as I do on my other cosplays) but I guess it's the fun that matters hehe ;) my friends and I already have an Uzumaki and Black Paradox group planned too actually! Along with Gyo and Hellstar Remina. DO ALL OF THE ITO haha.
